On Tuesday, May 26th, we at Horan Companies presented Baker High School Principal Kris Denton with a gift for select students of the Baker High Class of 2020. With a little help from Erie Insurance, we were able to purchase one thousand dollars worth of pizza and wing vouchers. Exactly 100 hundred vouchers were purchased evenly from local Baldwinsville restaurants; Pizza Man and Angry Garlic.
The idea came when Erie Insurance offered a financial opportunity for its agents to give back to their local communities. With the remainder of the school year having been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a unique loss we wanted to address. Graduating seniors were about to miss out on all of those final events and moments that come with finishing High School. Losses come in all shapes and sizes and this one in particular struck a nerve with me. It’s not just the The Senior Ball, or even the yearbook signings, but rather the sort of buzz that comes with those final few weeks of your senior year. Those simply can’t be recreated.
Ideally, I would have loved to purchase enough for the entire class of 2020. However, there are now 100 students who will receive at least a small token from a little business here in the Baldwinsville community. As a former graduate of Baker High (Class of ’94) I wish the seniors along with all students and faculty the absolute best as you reset for the summer!
